As the only state trooper assigned to Last Chance, Alaska, grizzly-shifter Jack Barret knows the law like he knows the back of his own paw. He’s serious about his job… some might say too serious.

When a sexy little fox-shifter with a secret comes to his town, he’s on the case and on her ass. She just might be the love he’s been looking for to make him grin and bare it all -- if she doesn’t turn tail and run when he turns on the heat.

Being wanted by the law has never been so much fun!

Excerpt:

Hesitating at the door, I take a deep breath before knocking. It’s just another routine follow up, no need to get all riled up about it. It’s my job. Besides, I need to give her the report number for her records.

Yeah, right. I’m not fooling myself, either. I know it’s a Beauty and the Beast kind of thing. Rubbing the stubble on my jaw, I realize I forgot to shave before rushing over here like a teenager. At least I remembered to shower. I’m not that much of an animal, but the woman seems to bring out the beast in me.
I hear her on the other side of the door, probably looking through the peephole. “Who is it?”

“It’s Jack Barret, Miss Volynski.” I’m not in uniform, but this isn’t strictly an official visit. My cock rises in my jeans in rampant anticipation of being with her again. Down boy, down! She opens the door to let me in. However, the frumpy librarian from this afternoon is long gone. This woman has sex written all over her in tiny red letters -- and I think I’ll have to get
really close to read every damned word. Maybe in Braille.

Her silky little pajamas barely cover her -- anywhere. That beautiful red hair tumbles around her shoulders, just a little mussed as if she’s been lounging in bed waiting for me.

“Trooper Barret, thank you for coming. If you’ll excuse me a minute, I’ll go put something else on. I wasn’t expecting anyone so late.” Glancing at a clock on the wall, I see it’s later than I thought.

“I apologize, I didn’t check the time before I stopped by. You don’t need to change clothes. I’m not staying long. But please, call me Jack.”

She scrunches her face up in concentration and sits on the couch where she motions for me to sit as well. “I can’t remember anything else to add to the report, if that’s what you’re here for.”

“To be honest, Katia, I didn’t come here on police business.” The grizzly inside me fights to be free, to claim her as my woman. But she’s still hiding something, and that bothers me.

“What… what did you come here for, then?” Her pupils dilate with desire, and a sexy little smile curves her mouth. I can smell her, feel her need of me. It tramples my doubts into the ground like so much snow.

“I came here for you, Katia.”
